Renee BelvisPresident

Rene Belvis, Pinellas County Schools

Renee Belvis is an ESOL Instructional Staff Developer for Pinellas County Schools. She has been teaching ESOL since 2003. Renee is also an adjunct professor in the College of Education, St. Petersburg College. Renee holds a master’s of arts degree in ESOL from Western Governors University.

Jane GovoniSecretary

Jane Govoni, Consultant, ESOL in Higher Ed, LLC

Jane is currently training teachers on ESOL strategies and the WIDA approach through her company, ESOL in Higher Ed, LLC. She has taught in teacher preparation programs and international studies for many years and developed ESOL specific courses and elementary and secondary education programs. Jane is an active member of the Association of Teacher Educators (ATE) and the Southeastern Regional Association of Teacher Educators (SRATE). Her ESOL website is

Melanie PadenTreasurer

Melanie Paden, St. Petersburg College

Since 2008, Melanie has been teaching English for Academic Purposes with St. Petersburg College, Clearwater. In November 2012, she became the full-time tutor in the Clearwater campus library, where she tutors in writing, reading, ESL, and Spanish. Melanie is a 2007 graduate of UF, where she earned her M.A. in Linguistics as well as her TESL certification. (Go Gators). After graduation, she spent a wonderful time teaching English in San Pedro, Costa Rica, where she learned to salsa dance, appreciate the beauty of nature, and teach for 8 hours straight, but not all at the same time.

Krista Bittenbender RoyalPast President

Krista Bittenbender Royal, USF Tampa

Krista Bittenbender Royal is a Senior Instructor at the USF English Language Program, INTO USF. She has been teaching ESL since 2003 and has her MA in Applied Linguistics/TESL from the University of South Florida.
